Honors Choir Guidlines
Attendance
REHEARSALS WILL BE MONDAYS AFTER SCHOOL
FROM 4:00-5:00pm.
-A student will be excused from a rehearsal or performance if he/she is absent from school on the scheduled day due to illness or out of town family obligations. All other reasons for missing a rehearsal or performance will be counted as unexcused, including doctor and dental appointments.
-Three tardies will be counted as one unexcused absence.
-When a student has 2 unexcused absences, the student’s attendance record will be reviewed with Mrs. Davis and a decision will be made on whether the student may continue as a member of the choir.
-If a student misses a rehearsal immediately prior to a performance (up to 2 weeks prior), the student may be asked not to attend the performance depending on his/her readiness for the event as determined by Mr. Smith.
-Any student missing a performance due to reasons other than illness or family emergency/travel will be asked to forfeit attendance at our final Honors Choir party.
Dismissal
If your child is not picked up by 5:15pm and Mr. Smith has not been notified of an emergency/problem, the student will be sent to kids club. If you are registered for kids club, you will incur the no advance payment fee. If you are not registered for kids club, it will cost you the registration fee and no advance payment fee.
Behavior
If a student’s behavior is inappropriate in school, during rehearsals or while on a choir field trip, that student will meet with Mr. Smith and Mrs. Davis to determine a solution to the problem.
Performance
Please know that performances will contain a wide variety of music genres, as well as secular and sacred music. All music will be selected for its aesthetic, historical, and cultural significance for educational purposes in accordance with policy 8800-R. Please note, the fall program will contain seasonal holiday music.
Uniform
The uniform for the Greenfield Honors Choir will be a green polo shirt with the Choir Logo and beige Khaki colored pants with a plain belt. Students should also wear flat comfortable shoes. Shirts will be provided at no additional cost to each choir member.
Please be sure to plan ahead for our first performance.
Choir Fee & Communication
There is a fee of $50.00 for each Honors Choir member to help defray the cost of field trips, buses and music.
